Seasonal Affective Disorder, SAD, Groundhog day

Groundhog day is good news for people suffering from SAD.

This is fantastic news for all who suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), a disorder that often presents symptoms in the fall that persist throughout the winter.  The disorder is caused by a lack of sunlight, the symptoms include depression, a lack of energy and general moodiness.    Many people brush off the symptoms as a case of the “winter blues”.

The Groundhogs are predicting an early spring, but there is no reason to suffer until spring arrives!  Fortunately, there are steps you can take right now to ease the symptoms.

The first is reletively inexpensive and very effective, light therapy has been proven effective in even the most severe cases.  For between $100-$200, with no effort you can experience some relief, almost instantly.  All you need to do is sit in front of the therapy light for 30 minutes each morning while you enjoy your coffee, breakfast or morning news program.  The light does all the work!

The next effective treatment is exercise, you can hit the gym or you can get outside for a walk/run.  Outdoor activity is the most effective, exercise also helps curb weight gain often associated with SAD.

If you can take a walk on your lunch break, around the noon hour when the sun is brightest in the winter, you will effectively be combining light therapy with exercise.  2 birds, 1 stone!

A really good way to alleviate SAD is to take a vacation!  That is where we come in.  You can go on that vacation, we will make sure while you enjoy some R&R with your family, enjoying the sunshine, that your customers are getting seamless, consistent service.  Its what we do!

The best relief for SAD is a sun destination!

Vitamin D will also work. start taking them when fall starts and keep them going through the winter. It will help fight off any thing to do with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).
