Need a pick me up?  Ron Alston and his 3 year old daughter have the right idea!

Each morning Ron Alston stands in front of a mirror with his 3 year old daughter and they say the following affirmations;

I am strong

I am smart

I work hard

I am beautiful

I am respectful

I’m not better than anyone else

No one is better than me

I am amazing

I am great

What is your name?

If you fall? (I get back up)

What are you? (the best)

Ron Alston started this ritual with his daughter to help build her confidence and instill positivity.  He said that his father started the tradition with him.  “My dad did this with me in the mirror as well, which I think has helped make me more positive.”

Feeling stressed?

The video of this morning ritual went viral, inspiring a lot of people to create a ritual similar for themselves and their children.

Recently we asked our call center agents to write something positive about one of their co workers and compiled the responses in the following image, which we now have posted strategically in the office, so all of our CSR’s need to pass it multiple times a day.  I catch people reading it quite frequently!

What We are Saying About You

Published in PLOS ONE, new research from Camegie Mellon University proves the first evidence that self-affirmation can protect against the damaging effects of stress and increase problem solving performance.

The purpose of the affirmation poster is to encourage our agents to stop for a minute and appreciate their amazing qualities!  Have a closer look at the poster, this is what we are saying about you!
